Handbuilding Foundations: 4-Week Course

$260.00

Discover the quiet rhythm of working with clay using only your hands, simple tools, and imagination. This course introduces you to the art of handbuilding — a slower, more intuitive approach to pottery that celebrates texture, form, and imperfection.

Over four weeks, you’ll learn the core techniques of pinching, coiling, and slab construction, building both functional and decorative pieces that reflect your personal touch. Each week focuses on one form of building and designing, with the final class dedicated to glazing and surface finishing.

You’ll explore how to build structure with your hands, how to connect pieces securely, and how to decorate with carving and texture. By the end of the course, you’ll have up to three finished works — perhaps a mug, a tray, or a small vase — all uniquely yours.

This class keeps a cozy group size, allowing time for guidance and creativity at your own pace. All clay, tools, and firings are included. Finished work will be fired and ready for pickup within 4–8 weeks after the last session.
